Welcome to Little Steps Family Care, founded by Evelyn Zapata, who brings a wealth of passion and experience in childcare.
Where it all began
Our journey started with a heartfelt mission: to create a childcare environment that feels like a second home, where children are encouraged to learn, play, and grow in a safe and loving atmosphere.
What sets us apart is our unique Spanish teaching curriculum, enriching meals that are both nutritious and delicious, and a dedication to exceeding every
family's expectation.
At Little Steps, we understand the challenges parents face in finding reliable and caring childcare. That's why we prioritize building trust and creating a supportive community where families feel confident and reassured when they leave their children in our care.
Evelyn Catalina Sanchez Zapata passion for working with children runs deep. She began her career as a teacher in her home country of Colombia, where she spent eight years nurturing young minds—following in the footsteps of her mother, a school principal.
In 2009, Evelyn moved to the USA as an au pair, arriving alone and without knowing a word of English. Her dedication and love for children helped her quickly adapt and thrive. After the premature birth of her daughter, Evelyn took a year off to provide the extra care her child needed. This life-changing experience inspired her to reevaluate her career path. Although she loved working as a nanny, she also wanted the flexibility to care for her daughter full time. Combining her teaching expertise with her nurturing spirit, Evelyn founded Little Steps Family Care—a place where she could continue doing what she loved while creating a safe, caring environment for other children.

Cata and Little Steps was a home away from home for our daughter for three years. They’ve created a safe and supportive environment where our daughter not only learned and grew, but thrived. We felt confident every day knowing she was surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her well-being and development.

We have been with Little Steps since July 2020, first with my son and currently our daughter since she was 8 months old. Cata and her team care for and love our children like they are their own and we consider them extended family. The providers are very thoughtful in their curriculum and activities and our kids love going every day. We are so thankful to have Little Steps in our lives!

Little Steps has been an incredible place for our sons. Our oldest, Beckett, started at 11 months old and it felt like home since his first day. The same can be said for his little brother who runs into the classroom every morning and hardly wants to leave at pick up. We are so grateful for the warm, nurturing environment that Cata and her team have created. The staff’s dedication to early childhood development is evident in the enriching experiences, skill-building activities, and strong relationships they foster. Both of our boys have thrived socially and emotionally, gaining confidence and essential skills that will serve them well in the years to come. It is truly a family feel. Little Steps’ commitment to high-quality childcare and early education is exactly what families in East Boston need more of. We are so grateful for the impact Little Steps has had on our family and cannot wait to see it grow!

Little steps has been a wonderful place for our child. It’s such a warm and loving environment. You can tell how much the staff cares for the children and how seriously they take the early childhood education for their development. Our son has grown to be a smart and confident child with essential skills thanks to Cata and her staff. We are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to cross paths with Cata. We cannot wait for them to keep growing and we hope that others get to have the same experience we had!
Our daughter has been going to Little Steps daycare for the past year and it has been a truly wonderful experience. From the first day we felt welcome and at ease, knowing Mila was in such a loving and nurturing environment. Each of the teachers takes care and time to get to know the children and truly cares for them. Our daughter absolutely loves being there, and has made great friends with each of the other students. She looks forward to going every day, and the activities and curriculum has resulted in tremendous growth in her social, emotional, and verbal skills. We are so lucky to have found Cata and Little Steps - don’t know what we would do without them!
